Samsung T7 with an Anker 332 Hub: Which Port Should You Use?
Share
Using a Samsung T7 SSD with an Anker 332 USB-C Hub, model A8355? Anker recommends connecting the T7 to one of the hub’s USB-A ports for stable data transfer. Use the appropriate USB-C-to-USB-A data cable rather than assuming the hub’s USB-C socket is the preferred connection.

When work files live on a portable SSD, an unreliable connection can interrupt a study session or presentation. Before replacing the drive or ordering another hub, check the specific guidance for the two devices you already own.
Start with the model-specific connection
Anker names the Samsung T7 in a compatibility note on its A8355 product page. The recommendation concerns this drive-and-hub combination. It is not a general rule that USB-A is better than USB-C, nor a guarantee that changing ports will resolve every storage problem.
Check the hub’s model number and the drive’s label first. A similarly named hub or another T7-family product may have different guidance. Keep the exact names in a note so you can give support a clear description if needed.
Find the right cable before buying one
Samsung’s T7 launch documentation lists both USB-C-to-USB-C and USB-C-to-USB-A cables. Check the accessories supplied with your own drive. For the Anker-recommended arrangement, the USB-C end connects to the T7 and the USB-A end connects to the hub’s data port.
If that cable is missing, confirm a replacement’s data-transfer support with the drive manufacturer. A matching plug shape alone does not establish that the cable meets the drive’s requirements. Label a confirmed cable for the drive so it stays with your work kit.
Keep speed expectations separate from connection stability
The Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1) is specified for data transfer up to 5 Gbps. Treat that as the hub’s stated limit, not a measured speed for your files. Samsung also notes that its T7 performance claims depend on the host and cable configuration.
Record what actually happens: does the drive appear, does a copy complete, or does it disconnect? “The drive disappears during a copy” gives support a more useful starting point than “it feels slow.” Do not delete your original files while investigating an uncertain connection.
A quick setup check
- Confirm the hub is A8355 and identify the exact SSD model.
- Follow Anker’s USB-A recommendation for the Samsung T7.
- Use a documented data cable and keep it with the drive.
- Record any error message and the point at which the problem occurs.
- If trouble continues, give support the computer, hub, drive and cable details.
If you are considering the Anker 332 hub for work or study, check these compatibility notes before deciding. The useful question is whether its documented connections suit your actual equipment and task.
